Ascotel IntelliGate IP Voice Server
When selecting a new communications platform, it is essential to look to the future to ensure that your investment is protected. With the convergence of voice and data, this means that any new communications platform must be fully capable of supporting Voice over IP (VoIP), where voice can be sent as data packets between locations using an existing wide area data network including the ability to connect seamlessly to home workers. It is also essential to select a system which delivers the high functionality and resilience that can only be provided through a specialist voice server platform, backed by the experience of many years of telephone system design and manufacture.
With the Ascotel IntelliGate, you can enjoy the best of all worlds, with the full benefits and features of a conventional ISDN telephone system, plus the cost savings and future-proofing of Voice over IP. What's more, with Ascotel IntelliGate, remote users connected by voice over IP will appear as extensions of the main system wherever they are located, giving home workers all of the functionality enjoyed by their office based colleagues. This ensures a seamless VoIP network between HQ, branch offices and remote staff.
The Ascotel IntelliGate also supports QSIG functionality using Networking over IP (NoIP), including display of the callers name or subscriber number, correctly converted and forwarded with each call over the IP connection. Using the IP route is also seamless to the user as the system recognises from the number dialled that the call is for a location connected via the Ascotel's IP gateway and converts the number automatically into an IP address. The call is then routed via the LAN to the requested subscriber.
The Ascotel IntelliGate supports QSIG, G.711 and G.729, MGCP and Telnet as well as Quality of Service (QoS) 802.1 p/q. This ensures that by the use of industry standards, Aastra systems are able to utilise data networking hardware from leading switched network suppliers, ensuring integration to your current data network with minimum additional investment.

Team Working "Fobbs Technology" customer-service team
Michelle Jones - "I want our team to work together and be in control of the calls"
The Problem
- Small team with four agents handling a customer service direct line.
- It is difficult to keep track of which agent spoke to which customer, and when exactly the calls were made.
- Records get lost and one agent doesn't know what another agent discussed with a particular customer.
- It is difficult to ensure an equal work load for all team members.
- The team would benefit from the convenience of a call centre application, but can't afford a full-featured solution.
Solution - Office 1600 IP
- A four-agent Office 1600IP installation with Ascotel IntelliGate
- ACD work group configuration with cyclic call routing for the team - log-in, log-out, pause and configurable wrap-up timer (Note - there is no need to buy Professional CTI licenses ... this functionality is built into the Office 1600IP free of charge).
- Emergency routing for the customer service line to backup Office terminal ... "Just in case!".
- Optional DECT terminals linked using "Twin Comfort" feature to each Office 1600IP client.
- Team uses the Office 1600IP "Work Ticket" feature as their simple to use customer relationship management tool for keeping track of conversations with customers.

- Lengthy long-distance calls via GSM are expensive.
Solution - Office 1600 IP
- Ernesto can use the Office 1600IP client installed on his laptop PC with a Bluetooth headset and USB adapter.
- In the office he is connected to the company LAN and benefits from the convenience of the Office 1600IP user interface.
- Out of the office he simply needs an IP connection to his company's IT- system (for example using ADSL, or wireless) and can use the Office 1600 IP just as he would in the office ... the contact lists, call logs and short-dial keys are all available.
- He can telephone as an internal subscriber on the company telephone system.
