HiPath Wireless V3.0

The HiPath Wireless solution provides a quick and easy way to provide a wireless local area network (LAN) with instant connectivity to your computer network anywhere a cable or wire won’t reach. It is a highly scalable, cost effective solution that can integrate seamlessly into existing wired networks, or can be used to create a freestanding all-wireless network, enabling mobility and increasing productivity quickly and cost-effectively. Enjoy uninterrupted access to the web and e-mail, even when moving between locations (if roaming enabled.)

Advantages of Wireless LAN

  • Flexibility - radio waves go through the walls and floors so that your wireless computer can be anywhere within range of an access point

  • Easy to use - just plug in a base station and equip your laptops with wireless LAN cards

  • Planning –reduce the complexity of planning physical components of wired networks (cables, hubs, switches, etc.)

  • Robustness - if one access point goes down, users may be able to physically move their PCs to be in range of another.

  • Application transparency - applications which function in wired also function also in wireless networks

HiPath Wireless Controller

The robust platform and intelligent software automatically manages your wireless network for easy deployment and provides centralized management for easy control. The Wireless Controller can be located anywhere in the network and aggregates all Access Points into centrally manages subnets, meaning there is never a need to configure AP’s individually. The HiPath Wireless Convergence software running on the controller platform provides for easy software updates and smooth migration to new features and functionality.

C10 –up to 75 simultaneous calls per controller

C100 –up to 200 simultaneous calls per controller

C1000 –up to 1000 simultaneous calls per controller

HiPath Wireless Access Points

Provides coverage anywhere that wireless LAN service is required via the plug and play technology. Simply plug it into the network and it automatically discovers the appropriate HiPath Wireless Controller and is configured. All Access Points and Controllers in the WLAN are virtually interconnected, enabling centralized management and seamless overlay into an existing IP based network infrastructure. Transparent integration with existing VPN implantations also provides an added layer of security.

  • Mid-sized enterprise networks that require the security and control of a large infrastructure

HiPath Wireless provides connectivity directly over IP (Internet Protocol). This approach enables out-of-the-box compatibility with leading wired network infrastructure, provides the foundation for wireless voice over IP (VoIP) and gives customers a future-proof solution for wireless data and voice communications. The entire line of HiPath Wireless products includes Siemens HiPath Wireless Convergence software that enables you to securely partition the WLAN network to deliver independent policies and traffic for separate user groups. . . providing enhanced wireless service at a lower cost.

HiPath Wireless Controller

The HiPath Wireless Controller is a high performance platform that provides centralized intelligence for the HiPath Wireless solution. Each HiPath Wireless Controller is a full-functioning router that aggregates all access points - the HiPath Wireless Access Points as well as third-party access points - into what appears as individual, centrally managed IP subnets to the rest of the network. As a result, network management, which is centralized at the HiPath Wireless Controller is greatly simplified, eliminating the need to ever physically visit the remote HiPath Access Points.

HiPath Wireless Controllers can be placed anywhere on the network, with the ability to communicate with all the other network devices. It is available in several versions including a Fast Ethernet and a Gigabit Ethernet.

The HiPath Wireless Controller is the centralized platform from which up to 200 Access Points can be controlled and managed. Controllers are available in a number of hardware configurations suited for different sized deployments. Located anywhere in the network, the controller aggregates all Access Points into centrally managed IP subnets. In addition to redundancy features like dual power supplies and multiple data ports, controllers can be deployed in pairs so that a secondary controller takes over in the event of a primary controller failure.

The HiPath Wireless Controller family includes:

  • HiPath Wireless Controller C10: up to 30 APs, 512 users
  • HiPath Wireless Controller C100: 4 Fast Ethernet Ports, supports up to 75 APs , 1,536 users
  • HiPath Wireless Controller C1000: 2 Gigabit Ethernet Ports, supports up to 200 APs, 4,096 users
